Golf Drive Secrets Review by Exercise Physiologist and Golf Conditioning Specialist, Joey Atlas

In my review of Golf Drive Secrets (GDS) I easily noticed the most critical factor being in place as soon as I looked at the outline summary of the program. That critical factor is this: Progressive Conditioning

Let me explain why Progressive Conditioning is such a critical factor and what this means to you.

Progressive Conditioning takes the golfer from his/her current state of fitness, no matter what it is, and progressively corrects, strengthens and enhances it in a manner which is conducive to the golfer’s playing patterns.

In other words – the program does not hinder, or sacrifice, the golfer’s current level of ability – But, rather it gradually improves his/her level of golf specific fitness so the player’s game is allowed to adjust accordingly – during lessons, practice-range time – and complete, 18-hole rounds.

The Essential Components of the Main Golf Drive Secrets Program:

B: Gold Drive Secrets Warm-Up (PDF – download & print option)

3 Additional and Optional Golf Fitness Components

In addition the Main GDS PRogram – there are 3 additional and optional components which can be added after the purchase of the Main Program. These can only be purchased AFTER the main GDS program because the main program serves as the foundation and as a stand alone routine – it is extremely effective and worth it’s weight in gold.

However – since the release of the main GDS program, many golfers started requesting more advanced and complementary components to add to the main program. The following 3 items are the add-on components for those golfers who want to take their conditioning and physical abilities to the maximum degree. About 63% of the golfers who purchase the main GDS program also add one or more of these add-on components:

1 – The Golf Drive Accelerator Program
a – The e-Manual; Teaches the difference between being “Mr Golf Fitness” versus “Mr Gym-Rat Workouts”
b – 8 golf-specific core conditioning exercises

2 – Golf Drive Nutrition

3 – The Road to Mastery; Extended Training for Long Term Gains and Maintenance

My Golf Drive Secrets Review Summary

After looking at the core components of the Main GDS Program and then looking at the 3 optional components – here is what I’ve determined:

This is the most up to date and well-rounded golf-specific conditioning program on the market. Each part of the program is based on physiologically tested and proven training and rehab protocols which are used in the latest PGA Tour regimens. Additionally – all parts of the GDS program are synergistic and complementary – meaning; they all fit together to create a seamless, year-round program which can be adjusted depending on which season you are in.

Lastly, the GDS Program is 100% compatible with my program: Optimum Flexibility for Golf ..and with that in mind – here is a special offer we have for you today… You get:

I want to share with you the underground phenomena happening in the golf world…

Have you ever heard of the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI)?

TPI is like the secret tour research lab for golf fitness and conditioning. It’s run by Dr. Greg Rose and Dave Phillips, and they are the secret weapon for a lot of the recent “changing of the guard” on The Tour.

Last season 37 out of the 47 events were won by golfers with a TPI team behind them. Currently 19 out of the top 25 male golfers in the world have a TPI team, as well as the #1 Men’s and Women’s golfers in the world. Why?

Well – in short – this stuff works. And here’s why…

TPI Golf Fitness Recipe: Swing Instructor, Golf Fitness Trainer, Physical Rehab Professional

The problem is that it’s taking a long time for these teams to work their way down to the average club golfer. The team concept is a very logical way of looking at a golfer. The swing instructor, fitness trainer, and rehab person are always working on a common goal, usually how to get the body to work more effectively and remain injury free.

So let’s say Luke Donald wanted to work on his sequencing to be even more consistent….

A – The fitness person would give him exercises designed to strengthen the weak link in that movement.
B – The medical person would help physically prepare the body for the fitness program.
C – The golf instructor would monitor the swing drills to make sure he wasn’t wasting his time with faulty drills.

This integrated approach works very well…but, as you can imagine, it can be really expensive and time-consuming, if you’re not playing golf for a living.

Let me introduce my friends Dee Tidwell and Tyler Ferrell. They have extensive training with the Titleist Performance Institute, They’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars and together have taken EVERY SINGLE TRAINING PROGRAM TPI has to offer.

In a recent conference call, Dee and Tyler were telling me about one of the more interesting things that TPI has discovered: There appears to be different swing patterns for different shots.

Basically, 3D research has shown that there are at least 4 different swings. Those are:

1 – best driver swing
2 – best iron swing
3 – best wedge swing
4 – best putter swing

The SAME swing that hits a straight wedge COULD hit a horribly nasty slice with a driver. This is one of the reasons why golfers rarely have their best driver day on the same day they have a great iron day.

The driver is the most physically demanding and therefore the toughest one for most amateurs to get a good handle on…and let’s face it, it’s the most FUN part of playing golf! But, since it’s so physically demanding, most people struggle from weak, crooked drives because of their physical restrictions and limitations.

And that’s just one example. You’ll want to see the complete video for the solution to tight muscles and a weak swing:

They’ve put together a great instructional video that you can watch to learn about how the body and the swing really interact with each other. In the video, they take you through a really helpful test about how the pelvis works in the golf swing, and show you some ways that you can work on hitting the ball further right away. Whether you’re a veteran golfer, or a newcomer, you definitely have to see Dave and Tyler’s Golf Fitness Presentation here.

Enjoy… and please share this post with all your golf pals…

You wouldn’t think most people would mention the words ‘golf’ and ‘nutrition’ in the same sentence – but the truth is I get this question a lot:

“Joey, what are some good snack foods to take with me during 18 holes of golf?”

Most people don’t realize it but golf is a physically (and mentally) demanding sport. We already know that optimal flexibility with proper core conditioning is essential to your ideal game and long term abilities…

But what most people underestimate is the power of the nutritional element. When we talk about sports performance – regardless of the sport – what you put into your body is a critical factor. No two ways about it…

On-the-course snacking is something that baffles most golfers. Truth is, it’s quite simple. During a typical round of golf – it’s easy to let time slip by without refueling your body with an ideal mix of fat/protein/carbs.

Without the right “fuel mixture” – your engines can’t run properly… Your performance suffers and you don’t even know why. You might think your timing is off – when in reality your blood sugar is low and you’re a bit “off center”.

With some simple – but balanced, nutrient intake – you can fix that problem.

So here are my top picks for ideal snacks to take to the course:

ONE – Two ounces of almonds, cashews or walnuts and a banana.

TWO – Two cheddar cheese sticks and an apple.

THREE – 3/4 cup of dried-fruit & nut granola mix and carrot sticks.

FOUR – Two nutrition bars with proper nutrient ratios for stable blood sugar levels and optimal energy. You want to be sure to stay away from any type of bar with artificial/chemical sweeteners (such as aspartame, acesulfame-potassium, sucralose, etc…). These can do a number on your focus and clarity – not to mention your long term health.

My top recommendation for a nutrition bar is this one:
Golf Nutrition Bar for Between Holes <= click to see

WARNING: if you have kids, and they find your stash of these bars – they will devour them. Yes, they are that good. Truth be told – I’m glad to let my kids eat these because there is no crap in them – and they are USDA Organic. Only 180 calories and ready for you to just grab and go.

So, just let your golf buddies eat those fake-cheese-crackers while you have a few secret performance weapons in your little bag:
Golfer’s Secret Weapon Nutrition Bar <= click to see

All 3 flavors are incredible and what's perfect is I just place a quick re-order every 3 or 4 weeks. I don't ever worry about running out of these because every month my new stash is delivered right to my doorstep. Life is easy - and good!

Chances are, if you’re an avid golfer, you’d love to be a single digit handicap (sdh) golfer. So what do these ’sdh’ golfers have that you don’t?

You may be thinking they’re simply “better golfers,” and that may be partially true, but odds are they are also more in tune with how their level of overall fitness (strength, flexibility, endurance) affects their ability to play a great round of golf – AND recover quickly between rounds.

Single digit handicap golfers have gone beyond ’swing technique’ and are committed to being as fit as possible for golf and the physical demands that come with the game.

They’ve developed a golf specific fitness routine that ensures that their bodies are capable of playing an enviable round of golf, with minimal risk of injury.

You too can focus on fitness and improve your golf game.

One of the first areas you need to look at is your core strength. Your core muscles are those in your torso, the ones that are critical to how well you swing the club. If your back, abdominal and shoulder muscles are not in shape they are not going to be able to support you well enough to produce an excellent swing. Getting your core muscles in shape will give you a more powerful, fluid swing, offering more distance and accuracy.

Shoulder rotation is another key area. By exercising and stretching your shoulder muscles through an expanded, but natural, range of motion you will increase your flexibility, ensuring a full swing with balanced rotation. This goes for spinal rotation as well. If you work your back muscles, consistently keeping them limber, they will enable you to more efficiently swing the club – with a predictable repetitiveness (VERY important)

The majority of single digit handicap players have full, and fluid, range of motion in their shoulders in addition to optimal hip, spine and neck flexibility.

Play Strong for All 18 Holes and Recover Much Quicker

Finally, a properly structured fitness routine improves your ‘golf’ endurance, making a long round of golf much easier to get through – and recover from. This means that your first swing of the round and your last will have the same level of control, accuracy and power…

And that late-round, game killing fatigue is avoided – allowing you to keep your mental focus when it counts the most.

Becoming a single digit handicap golfer is about more than skill, it’s about preparing your body to use the skills you have, every time you pick up a club.

And more importantly – when your body is ‘fit for golf’ – it allows you to further develop your ‘golf skills’ by allowing you to get the most out of your practice time.

Worst Golf Exercises for Your Game… and Body

It’s no secret – I’m not a big fan of traditional ‘gym’ workouts for golfers. As a matter of fact – I think it’s downright foolish for the typical golfer to be lifting weights and pumping up on all the machines to try and enhance his/her golf performance…

The main exercises you need to focus on are stretching and flexibility exercises (first and foremost) – and then core conditioning exercises on top of that foundation of flexibility…

Then you can plug in some cardio and balance training…

Most of what I just mentioned can be done VERY effectively with bodyweight exercises…

Throw in some good resistance bands, a nice floor mat, a 55 or 65cm exercise ball, maybe a medicine ball, and possibly even some very light dumbbells – and you have everything you need for some serious golf performance enhancement – as well as a smart, all around, well balanced fitness program for all areas of your life – even in the bedroom (cause that score counts too ya know…)…

With all that being said – I know there are still some golfers out there who are going to still ‘hit the gym’ and do what everyone else is doing… So – if this sounds like you here are a few body and game destroying exercises I would advise you to drop from your program:

1 – Lat Pulldown Behind the Neck

2 – Shoulder Press from Behind the Head

3 – Deadlifts

4 – Traditional Bench Press

5 – Wide Dumbbell Flyes

Those are just a few potential game and body killers – and there are more – but I don’t want to overwhelm you…
